Who we are

Martin Cadman

Martin has worked in the pensions industry since 1974 and held a number of representative positions on industry bodies.  He was on the Committee of The Association of Pensioneer Trustees, the SIPP Provider Group (4 years as Chairman) and the Association of Member Directed Pension Schemes for a total of 21 years.

During this time he has been responsible for liaison with HMRC and FCA on behalf of the industry bodies and, in the lead up to the new pension’s regime in 2006, led the discussions with government about the shape of the new regime.  He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, a Fellow of the Pensions Management Institute and a Chartered insurer.


Although still incredibly busy Martin does have time for the odd round of golf and the occasional concerts (both classical and rock).  He also managed to complete, this year, a post-graduate degree at King’s College London.


James Dawson

James graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1999 with a degree in Accounting & Financial Management. After working in various accounts based positions James joined MC Trustees in 2002.  James started in the Finance Department but is now a Director of the company.


James spare time is spent watching his beloved Leicester City play football or head banging in the mosh pit.

Technical Manager
Michael Smith

After working for over 20 years in the pensions industry, including the Audit and Pensions Schemes Services at HMRC Michael joined MC Trustees in 2012 to write all our technical guidance.

Michael also vets any proposed non-standard investments to ensure they will not attract any unauthorised tax charge or constitute Pension Liberation.


Sport, music and travelling are all activities Michael enjoys whenever his brain isn’t absorbing new legislation.

Louise Pearson – Client Liaison Manager – Team A

Having worked for MC Trustees for over 12 years. Louise has attained extensive knowledge in all areas of the SIPP industry.  Over the years Lou has specialised in New Business and Pension Transfers and was appointed Client Liaison Manager in February 2012.


Lou lives in the same village as the office so there is no excuse for her not to get to the office, even in the snow!

Traci Hatch – Client Liaison Manager – Team B

Joining MC Trustees in 2001, Traci has spent the time in various administrative roles within the company  In 2003, Traci was promoted to Investment Team Supervisor over-seeing all investment administration tasks.  Although investment choices change with the seasons, the stalwart remains to be the traditional stockbroking account with flurries in unit trusts, hedge funds and more recently bonds and cash funds.


On a personal note you will see the unusual spelling of her name she takes full responsibility for this and all she says is “it seemed a good idea at age 11!”

Steven Rumney – Client Liaison Manager – Team C

Since graduating from University in 2006; Steven joined MC Trustees and has worked his way up from a Trainee Valuation Administrator to Client Liaison Manager. Steven specialises in the administration of Execution Only, Advisory, and Discretionary stockbroking accounts, Unquoted Shares, Fixed Term Deposits, Unit Trusts and Trustee Investment Plans. He also has specific knowledge in SSAS administration and deals with some of our most complex cases.


In his spare time Steven takes part in his local 5km park run and also watches Aston Villa lose on a weekly basis with team mate Stewart.

Finance Team
Robin Parker – Financial Controller

Robin joined MC Trustees in September 2006 and became Financial Controller in May 2015. Robin is responsible for a range of operational and back office functions in the business and manages the day to day operations in the Finance Department. In addition to supporting the UK SIPP and SSAS operations, Robin is also involved in our QROPS and Auto enrolment operations in providing day-to-day practical guidance.


Outside the office Robin is a gym enthusiast and during the weekend can often be found wandering the paths of the Peak District.

Business Processes
Kathy Archibald

Graduating from Stirling University with a BA (Hons) in Business & Management in June 2006 Kathy joined MC Trustees in September 2006. Kathy’s initial role was as part of the new business and transfers team. In February 2012 she became Client Liaison Assistant Manager for a client based- team which expanded her knowledge of other areas of the business, and from August 2012 Kathy became Business Processes Manager.


Kathy has a balanced exercise routine as each calorie she works off at the gym she replaces with chocolate and cookies.

Business Development and Marketing
Kerry Allsopp

Kerry has progressed through the company since starting as a Trainee Investment Administrator in 2009 to her position now as the Business Development Manager.


Away from work Kerry enjoys her spare time with her partner, two boys and the dog.

Property Management
Joy Smith

Joy is the longest serving member of staff joining MC Trustees in March 1997, following a period working for a well-known insurance company.  Since joining MC Trustees Joy has seen tremendous changes and growth in the pensions market and seen MC Trustees change from being a cottage industry to one of the UK’s leading SIPP, SSAS and QROPS Pension Trustee companies.


When not at work most of Joy’s time is spent at her local ice rink in the mistaken belief that she could have been Jayne Torvill.

Admin Team
Samantha Adams – Office & HR Administration Manager

Graduating from Bournemouth University with a BSc (Hons) in Land Management in 2002, Sam worked as a project manager for over 5 years within the charity and ‘third sector’. Joining MC Trustees in 2010, Sam’s main responsibilities include supplier liaison, overseeing reception, coordination of staff training and managing the recruitment process. Sam has also recently become Trustee of Project Luangwa, a charity that MC Trustees has supported since 2004.


Sam is keen to learn new things, and in the past has qualified as PADI diver, trained as a bee-keeper and is currently discovering whisky!
